Dear CLCA East Bay Chapter Members,
This time of year always brings a noticeable shift across the East Bay. Jobsites are active, crews are moving, and the pace of work picks up as projects that have been planned over the winter start coming to life. It’s one of the most rewarding parts of what we do; seeing designs turn into spaces that people will use and enjoy every day. Across the East Bay, we’re seeing steady demand for both maintenance and design-build work as schedules fill and crews work to keep up with the pace of the season.
That increased pace also highlights how important it is to stay connected and continue learning from one another as an industry.
March was a great example of that. I’d like to extend a thank you to Cassidy Lundin of Terra Landscape for leading our Field Supervisor Panel Discussion. The conversation focused on communication, setting clear expectations, and supporting crews in the field, topics many of us are working through as the season ramps up.
Opportunities like this reinforce that some of the best learning in our industry comes from real world experience and open conversation. Whether it’s managing crews, navigating client expectations, or keeping projects on track, we all benefit from sharing what’s working.
s we continue through the season, I also want to remind everyone about the CLCA Beautification Awards. This program is a great opportunity to recognize the craftsmanship and professionalism across our chapter. If you have a project your team is proud of, I encourage you to consider submitting it.
We’ll also have an opportunity to connect with fellow members later this month at our April networking gathering at The Draft Sports Pub in Pleasanton. These informal events are always a great chance to step away from the day to day and stay connected with others in the industry.
As things continue to move quickly this season, I encourage you to take a moment to recognize the work your teams are doing and the progress being made. This is a busy time of year, but it’s also when we see the results of our planning and effort come together.

East Bay Chapter Field Supervisor Luncheon
Thank you to everyone that joined us for the Field Supervisor Panel Luncheon on March 19th at Las Positas College. Laura Carlos, Director of Operations at Terra Landscape and Jorge Ponce, Regional Branch Manager at Allied Landscape shared real-world insights on setting clear expectations, strengthening communication, and leading crews to meet client standards. The bilingual presentation included how middle managers can effectively train and develop frontline team members, daily field leadership routines and working with different personality types to build stronger soft skills.
